THE CHALLENGE

“The master bedroom had become the last room in the house to receive any attention. The client — a busy professional — admitted she rarely spent time there beyond sleeping. It was functional, but far from restorative. She wanted a true retreat: a room that felt like a reward at the end of the day.”

THE DESIGN THINKING

The design philosophy here was simple: every element was chosen for how it felt, not just how it looked. We softened the walls with a warm plaster finish, introduced layered textiles at every scale, and worked carefully with the lighting to create a room that changes mood from daylight to evening. The furniture was selected for its tactile quality — linen, mohair, aged brass — nothing sharp or demanding.

THE OUTCOME

The client now begins and ends every day in a space designed for restoration. She described the bedroom as “the one room in the house that I never want to leave.” That is, in the end, exactly the point.
