The Kitchen
Transformation
THE CHALLENGE
“The kitchen was the heart of a busy family home — but it was functioning in spite of its design, not because of it. The layout was illogical, storage was inadequate, and the aesthetic had nothing in common with the rest of the house. The clients had tolerated it for years, convincing themselves a kitchen renovation was “too much trouble.” It was. But the result made every moment of it worthwhile.”
THE DESIGN THINKING
We redesigned the layout from scratch — removing a wall to create a better connection to the dining area, repositioning the island for flow, and commissioning bespoke joinery to address the storage failures. The palette was restrained: marble surfaces, hand-painted cabinetry in a soft warm white, and aged brass detailing that referenced the rest of the home. Nothing competed. Everything connected.
THE OUTCOME
The kitchen became the home's social centre. The clients reported that they now spend more time in it than any other room — and that family meals have become an occasion rather than a routine. A kitchen, properly designed, changes how a family lives.
